About: The Laramie Project was produced in the Langworthy Theater, but to create the intimacy the show required, almost all the action took place on the apron. I used a process of moment lighting to create the individuality each moment demanded, with numerous specials and a general LED wash to fill in everywhere else. I approached light as though it were a scalpel, cutting into the story and breaking it open for the audience just as Tectonic did with their playwrighting. I used just over 200 instruments, with a mix of traditional incandescent and LED. I worked with the scenic designer to create the twinkling lights of Laramie at the end of the show by creating a giant moon box that spanned the whole stage, and was mindful not to wash out the numerous projections. I also used UV Lights during Act III: Snow (Angel Action) to create a bright, brilliant white on the costumes during that scene.
